Terms and Conditions

Last reviewed

These terms and conditions govern your use of this website and any consultancy services you engage us to provide. In short: we offer guidance on studying in Italy and on the Italian student visa; we are not an official body and cannot guarantee any outcome; you remain responsible for the accuracy of what you tell us, for meeting official deadlines and for paying official fees. By using the website or engaging our services you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the website or our services.

Last updated: October 10, 2026. These terms are issued by Italy Study Journey (“we”, “us”, “our consultancy”).

What our services are, and what they are not

We provide information and guidance to prospective students and their families about Italian higher education and the procedures for admission, the long-stay study visa and the residence permit. Our services, described on the services page, may include explaining how the Italian admission, visa and residence-permit process works, helping you understand which requirements apply to your situation, reviewing the documents you have prepared against your consulate’s and institution’s lists, and preparing you for the steps you must complete yourself.

Our services are guidance only. We are a private consultancy. We are not an embassy, consulate, visa authority, government agency, university, or an agent of any of them, and we have no authority to admit you to a course, to issue or influence a visa, or to grant a scholarship. We do not provide legal advice, and nothing we say or write should be treated as legal advice. Where your situation raises a question of law, for example about your immigration status, we will tell you and recommend that you consult a qualified professional. The disclaimer explains these limits in more detail.

No guarantee of outcomes

The decision to admit you to a course rests with the institution; the decision to validate a pre-enrolment rests with the institution; the decision to issue a visa rests exclusively with the Italian diplomatic or consular mission; the decision to award a scholarship rests with the awarding body; and the decision to issue a residence permit rests with the Questura. Under Italian rules, admission creates no right to a visa, a visa creates no right to complete enrolment, and an institution’s validation does not guarantee a visa appointment or a visa.

Accordingly, we make no promise, warranty or representation that any application you make will succeed, that any appointment will be available, that any document will be accepted, or that any deadline set by a third party can be met. Any statement by us about the likelihood of an outcome is an opinion based on the current rules, our experience and the information you have given us, not a guarantee. Fees paid for our services are for the work we do, not for a result.

Your responsibilities

Our guidance is only as good as the information it is based on.

  • Give accurate and complete information about yourself, your education, your finances and your circumstances, and tell us promptly if anything changes. We do not verify the authenticity of the documents you give us, and we will not assist with any document or statement that we know or suspect to be false. Submitting false information or documents to a university or consulate is a serious matter and can result in refusal, revocation and a ban on future applications.
  • Meet the official deadlines. Pre-enrolment deadlines are set by each institution; the visa deadline for the 2026/27 academic year is 30 November 2026 and for 2027/28 it is 31 October 2027; the residence permit must be requested within eight working days of arrival. We will remind you of deadlines we know about, but you are responsible for tracking and meeting every deadline that applies to you, including earlier deadlines published by your institution or consulate.
  • Pay all official fees yourself, directly to the body concerned: university application and tuition fees, CIMEA fees, visa and service-centre fees, insurance premiums, residence-permit costs and any other third-party charge. These are never included in our fees unless our written agreement says so.
  • Confirm the specifics with the bodies that decide. Before you act on any guidance from us, confirm the current requirement with your institution and your consulate. Requirements change, and the consulate’s own list prevails over any general summary.
  • Keep your own copies of every document you send us and every document you submit to an official body.
  • Use the website and our services lawfully and not for any fraudulent purpose.

Fees and payment

We will agree the scope and the fee for any paid service with you in writing (which may be by WhatsApp or email) before work begins. No work is chargeable until you have accepted the scope and fee. If you ask for work outside the agreed scope, we will tell you before doing it and agree any additional fee.

Cancellations and refunds

Because our fees are for our work and not for an outcome, a refusal, non-validation or rejection by a third party is not in itself a ground for a refund. We may cancel an engagement and refund any fee for work not yet done if we discover that information you gave us was false, or if we conclude that we cannot help you properly.

Intellectual property

The text, structure, checklists, tables and other content of this website, and any written material we prepare for you, are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by copyright. You may read, print and save pages of this website for your own personal, non-commercial use in planning your studies, and you may share links to our pages. You may not copy, republish, sell or otherwise exploit our content, in whole or in part, without our written permission. Names and logos of universities, ministries and other organisations mentioned on this site belong to their owners and are used only to identify them.

Documents and information you give us remain yours. We use them only to provide the service you asked for, as described in our privacy policy.

We take care to keep our content current and we update our guides when the rules change. Even so, requirements, deadlines, fees and forms change, often without notice, and consulates and institutions apply their own specific rules. The content of this website is therefore general information provided “as is”: it may be incomplete or out of date at the moment you read it, and it is not tailored to your circumstances unless we have agreed to provide you with a paid service.

Our pages link to external websites that you will use during your application, such as Universitaly for pre-enrolment, the visa portal to find your consulate, CIMEA to request your statements, and the Polizia di Stato and Portale Immigrazione for the residence permit. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, availability or privacy practices. A link does not imply any endorsement of us by the organisation concerned, or of them by us.

Limitation of liability

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or under mandatory consumer-protection rules.

Subject to that, and to the fullest extent permitted by law: (a) we are not liable for any loss arising from the refusal, delay or revocation of a visa, admission, enrolment, scholarship or residence permit, or from any other decision of a third party; (b) we are not liable for loss arising from inaccurate or incomplete information you gave us, from your failure to meet an official deadline or pay an official fee, or from your reliance on website content without confirming it with your consulate or institution; (c) we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including loss of tuition fees, travel costs, accommodation deposits, income or opportunity; and (d) our total liability to you in connection with any paid service is limited to the amount you paid us for that service.

Use of the website

You may use this website only for lawful purposes. You must not attempt to gain unauthorised access to it, interfere with its operation, scrape its content automatically, or use it to transmit anything unlawful or harmful. We may suspend or withdraw the website, or any part of it, at any time without notice, and we do not guarantee that it will be available without interruption or error.

Changes to these terms

We may revise these terms from time to time. The version on this page at the date shown above applies to your use of the website. For paid services, the version in force when we agree the scope and fee with you applies to that engagement, unless we both agree otherwise in writing.

Governing law and disputes

If you are a consumer, you may also have the right to bring proceedings in the courts of the country where you live and to benefit from the mandatory consumer-protection rules of that country; nothing in this clause removes those rights.

If any part of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the rest continues to apply. Our failure to enforce any part of these terms is not a waiver of our right to do so later.

Contact

Questions about these terms can be sent to Italy Study Journey at the email address given above, or through the WhatsApp contact on our contact page. Please also read our privacy policy and disclaimer, which form part of these terms.
